Associate Engineer (3rd Line Support)

Salary:Up to £40k DOE

Reporting to:Head of Digital Transformation

Location:Remote Working with occasional site visits across the Southwest

Connect IT have partnered with a charity based housing association who are looking to expand their team by adding an Associate Engineer to their already experienced and hardworking team.

You will be working with the Lead Infrastructure Engineer and Enterprise Architect on the design of new and revised systems and services. You will be responsible for the security of those devices, maintaining those services against agreed availability targets, all whilst building your own technical skillset, with support from our client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to implement the Digital Architecture, migrating existing systems and services to new, primarily Cloud-based, capabilities

  • Supported by the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, design, build, implement and change all Infrastructure capabilities

  • Maintain Systems and Services to agreed availability targets.

  • Ensure security by design, providing protection internal and external attack vectors

  • Work with third party supply chain to ensure services are delivered correctly

  • Manage the currency backlog, keeping systems secure and up to date

Required

  • Technical awareness across a range of infrastructure building blocks

  • Ability to build and implement infrastructure capabilities

  • Experience managing component partks of complex systems to agreed targets

  • Can articulate the type of activity required to migrate services to the Cloud

  • Experience making and guiding decisions, clearly explaining how a decision is reached

Desired

  • Awareness of user-centred design, technology and data perspectives.

  • An understanding ofthe range of available technology choices and an ability to make informed decisions based on user need and value for money.

  • Awareness of wider business issues, events and activities, and their short to long term impact

  • Ability to understand architectural principles, patterns, standards, roadmaps and vision statements

  • Qualifications in Computer Science or similar

  • Commercial experience with Microsoft Azure

  • AWS Certified cloud Practitioner
